"I commend you for organising the 4Rs Conference and the opportunity is provides to bring together a range of people to discuss and develop our understanding of these issues. The overarching theme of the conference is social inclusion, a particular focus of the Government, which requires an holistic approach to considering and overcoming the barriers to participation.
The conference themes align with a number of the Australian Government's priorities. For example, the Government is committed to addressing Indigenous disadvantage, and is working with State and Territory Governments through the Council of Australian Governments. This work focuses on closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in life expectancy, child mortality, literacy and numeracy and employment."
Bob Debus
Minister for Home Affairs
"The Department of Education and Training is very supportive of the aims of the conference. We welcome the opportunity it provides for educators, policy developers and students to come together to explore issues that promote a civil society. I am pleased to support departmental officers’ participation in workshops and panel discussions where appropriate."
