Welcome to the 4Rs Conference

Framing Australia's Future

The 4Rs international conference at the University of Technology Sydney frames Australia’s future as a cosmopolitan civil society.

The conference examines four themes:

- human rights

- Indigenous advancement

- inter-communal relations and

- active citizenship.

Planning for a socially inclusive future for Australia

"Australia has entered a new political era and, while guarded optimism is appropriate, we are emerging from more than a decade of fear, suppression of debate and destruction of civil society. This conference will foreshadow how we can move forward as a society and call on political commitment." - Professor Andrew Jakubowicz, conference convenor.

Placing Australian policy & practice dilemmas within an international context

The conference comes at a critical time for Australia, when the opportunities and desire for change abound, yet older fears persist. The 4Rs conference explores internal debates and relationships between social, political and cultural questions, and their relevance to public policy, community development and societal cohesion. We welcome your involvement, as a supporter of the event, or as a presenter in one of the many forums at the conference.
